caught it after the giants/cowboys game sunday night, and again last night.

granted, part of it was that it featured summer glau (river of firefly and serenity) and i like seeing how joss whedon alums do, but it was decent enough to merit catching it next week for me.

anybody else? or am i all alone way out on that limb?

Watched the pilot, missed episode 2.  We'll see how it goes but I'm not impressed thus far.

I was kind of "meh" on the whole premise (haven't seen it), but now I might have to catch a few eps.

I didn't watch it.  I've seen the promos.  It doesn't look bad.  Maybe I'll watch it if I can pry myself away from the Travel Channel long enough.  :-)

oh yea, we caught it by accident after the game and then tuned in last night, it is actually quite good! We enjoyed it!! mamie

mm&i: yep, but she was also pretty bad-ass in both firefly and serenity--esp in the latter! :>

super z: i think i'm seeing how this show will run and if i'm right, it should be pretty cool, i think. :>

sean: just generally meh or something specific?

infernal: i suspect fox will re-run it, esp w/ the writers strike, to be honest.

CW: heh...the mrs and i have been watching no reservations via netflix. i can see why you and GS are fans of the show--bourdain was always pretty compelling on food network, i always thought. :>

mamie: yeah, i'm curious to see how this goes. :>

I was hoping someone else was watching this!

DH and I were interested by the previews.  The first 10 minutes or so of the pilot left us both feeling a little "meh," but we stuck it out and by the end we were really enjoying it.  I guess it's hard to do a really attention-getting in medias res when the audience already knows the background and the ending! But once the plot and the characters start to develop, it draws you in.  At least that's how I felt about it.  Saw the 2nd episode last night and liked it also.

It remains to be seen, I guess, if they will keep the plot fresh or if they will end up just rehashing the same devices over and over.  And it will have to contend with the strike.  But as it is now, I'm intrigued enough to keep watching!

Saw the 1st episode over a month ago.
What can I say? Love leaked screeners. ^_^
Just saw last night that the 2nd ep came out and am actually going to watch it before I have to head into work shortly.
As for the show, yea wasn't too bad, though once Summer started in, fell into liking it alot more. What can I say? She is sooo fracking hot. o_O

nyt: yeah, i saw the previews and figured i knew how the show was gonna run but i did get caught by surprise once or twice. i'd like to believe that b/c nobody else associated w/ joss whedon is working on this show, it won't get fireflyed into oblivion. :>

pontius: good to see you again, been a while! heh...am i weird for not thinking summer glau is teh uber-haw+ness?

Don't think so no. Just something about that 'simple girl' look that just kills me.
Realized one thing with the 1st episode though. The way she smiles, the 'crooked' smile thing, gawd..... LoL

Well more than a few things wrong with it.  Initially I didn't think Summer Glau would make a good Terminator.  Turns out I was only half right.  She is far to graceful for what we've seen in the Terminator roles thus far.  But she's good at acting mechanical which makes up for it.

The guy they chose is no Arnold.  And honestly if they couldn't somebody big enough to be Arnold they should have just gone with the sleeker smaller guy and just played up that he's a robot.

Too much in that opening episode was really predictable.  The shoot out at th school, the "fake" John vs "fake" Sarah.  But like you I like to follow Whedon alumni, plus I'm a Terminator fan, so I'm willing to give it a chance.
  • silverwhisper said on Jan 15, 2008....
sean: i can forgive the pilot of a licensed property being predictable. how they surprise me if at all next week--that's gonna mean something more to me. :>

I am having trouble seeing how this can be stretched into an open-ended TV series....maybe a mini-series, but.... there was an awful lot of "been there, done that" feeling and I MISS ARNOLD!!!! Ya!
  • CreativeWoman said on Jan 15, 2008....
Right you are, my friend.  Bourdain would be great to sit down with.  I'm rarely such a big fan of t.v. personalities, but I really like him.

I read this post just to see if you thought it was any good.  I saw the previews but missed it.  I'll try to watch it next week.  Thanks Ed.

I heard tonite that the screener was actually a bit different than the actual aired episode. So I'm downloading it now so I can watch it and see if I can catch the differences.
While I do understand the folks who love trashing (even when not really meaning to) things like this.
Granted, I understand it, but still... to me, just enjoy it as it is, that way, it is much easier to watch.
Nitpick some here and there, but just enjoy it! lol

celestial: given the way arnold's been since becoming the governator, i can't say i agree, but hey, the more the merrier. :>

CW: yeah, i know exactly what you mean. :>

    dee: same thing? which thing?

fearing: as you can see, i did. :>

pontius: i was wondering if there were differences. let me know what you think. :>

I found it awfully boring. The plot line was tired and predictable, the script was flat, the acting was bland. I could see the series becoming formulaic.

I think the word I'm looking for is banal. Ah, there we go.

My son-n-law said he couldn't see himself watching it every week.  He was disappointed that the terminator wasn't a man.

I see the confusion in my first post.  I thought you said you couldn't see watching it next week.  Guess I had better clean my glasses, eh?
