Whenever I feel a little blue or the weather gets chilly and raw, I look towards comfort foods (foods that just make you feel warm inside).

My favorite comfort foods always seem to have cheese  - macaroni and cheese and french onion soup are two of my favs.

For some reason, I felt a little like making one of my favorite comfort dishes tonight - but I found a recipe today for low fat mac and cheese which I am now baking so I don't feel guilty about eating it.  I'll tell ya'all how it is....

Soups, mexican, potatoes of all kinds.

Of course most of these are off limits to me right now so I'll have to make due with "sensible" food.

Unique - trye Cooking Light.com - look in their recipe finder for the name of soup and I am sure you can find a version that will work with your diet.  :)

Phoeby - I LOVE mexican too.

For me comfort foods are Mexican, soups, and pot roast.

U-I: There are some very delicious low-fat and low-carb soup recipes out there. I would search Food Network as well as Cooking Light.

Eilan - you have to be southern!  And the Cream of Chicken soup with croutons reminded me that I absolutley LOVE split pea soup with bacon bits and croutons.  yummie!

I am curious - a lot of "Mexican" as comfort food - but what do you all consider mexican?  Real mexican dishes or the tex-mex versions of burritos, tacos, fajitas, etc?

My absolute FAVORITE comfort food is my mother's homemade Chicken Pot Pie. It is so amazing that I don't think I could do it justice describing it! My mouth is watering right now! LOL

Bad carbs in any presentation never fail to raise my spirits.  Unfortunately they also raise my blood sugar so I stay far away from them.
But if I could indulge, it would be...meatloaf, mashed potatoes, & corn...followed by ice box cake (chocolate pudding, graham crackers,  whipped cream), tea, and M&Ms.
Followed by a cigarette, a nap, and a diabetic coma.

Future--Real Mexican. Although, I like Tex Mex as well, but I prefer real Mexican. And for the record, Taco Bell counts as neither real Mexican or Tex Mex. I also like New Mexican cuisine; it's origins are New Mexico, and it differs from both traditional real Mexican food and Tex-Mex food.

I also like Split Pea with Ham soup, especially homemade. And French Onion soup. Yummy!

Today I have been feeling drained all day. I woke up at 5:30 am, then 7:30 am, and then 11:30 am. I'm still all tired out. I know that I peuked twice yesterday, so maybe its a bug. So far I've kept all of my food down today. Yesterday I threw up bot...
WTF!...... WAL-MART was a trip into hell and back. People were pushy, angry and mean as they tried to find that one special gift for that one special person. The lines were longer than I have ever seen! They should have gone to the friggen dollar store!...
