I'm not popular in here and I don't care, because I have very specific and rare times and ways in which I use this site. I blog on a lot of sites, this one least of all.
But once in awhile something strikes my eye and makes me jump in, and the fact that I've been around SoulCast for a long time gives me a perspective to relate from.
Popularity is important to SoulCast in general. Without interaction and hits, no revenue is generated for advertising and SoulCast will cease to exist.
Popular people like, say, destinydiva and evil_twin, who say that popularity doesn't matter to them is kind of like a guy with a full head of hair saying he wouldn't mind if he started going bald. Without individual popularity - people attracting readers to the site for more than a couple of hits - SoulCast goes kaput. Would CreativeWoman or silverwhisper keep writing and posting here if they had interaction with only two or three regulars? That's what happens to most newcomers to SoulCast.
Look through the names of SoulCast subscribers, and when you get in about 6 or 7 pages deep there are more abandoned IDs than land mines left in Europe.
