new year's eve/new year's day, i was up until around 4 or so and went to sleep finally. i was awoken at 6:30 or 7 by several things, including the cat scratching around in his litterbox. it seemed to go on forever!
and i just couldn't go back to sleep after that. so i stayed up until around 9, then tried going back to bed. i was there for around an hour or so, but sleep remained elusive, so i came back out. the mrs was sleeping, our guests were sleeping and i had no way to amuse myself...so i popped in here and poked around until others started showing signs of consciousness.
that was around noon-ish, and we all had a very leisurely introduction into the new year yesterday.
exhausted, we went to bed early--around 9, i think, and i got up a little while ago.
while i was hoping i'd be able to spend some time here this week, that isn't looking very likely: 3 days will not be enough for me to finish this database project i'm working on so i guess i won't really be on until some time next week, maybe.
some parting thoughts though for now:
1. my giants are in the playoffs and i actually think they'll beat tampa bay sunday. it'll be warm, eli manning plays well in warm weather, and if eli plays well, the giants usually win (exception: dallas). and i think that tampa bay's benefitting from a really weak division, whereas the NFC east has 3 of its 4 teams in the playoffs this year.
2. the database project is going well. by my estimates, i'll need around a solid week of work to complete it, but as it's my first contracting gig, i'm not at all sure that i've estimated this correctly. i am at least confident that i've not under-estimated it, though. :>
3. it seems wrong that at 6 am, it's dark out and the moon is high in the sky!

well, in my experience, you can have weeks go w/out getting a new subscriber, other days you'll get more than one in a day! it's all good, though.
