okay, i haven't been online for about three days now.
the last most of you knew i was picking up my kids in denver.
so.....we left at 6 am thursday morning for the airport.
our flight was delayed about an hour and a half due to blizzard conditions in Denver.
not bad...we got there a little before they dropped the kids off.
so we picked up the kids.
the looks on their faces was incredible.
clara wouldn't let go of me.
if i had any doubts before that they wouldn't want to live with me they are completely squelched now.
this is HOME to them.
grandma and grandpa's house in denver is a place to visit.....daddy is a person to visit....and they are home where they belong......from their own words.
clara was crying off and on all evening......she was just so overwhelmed...she's the littlest....she'll be four in a couple weeks. ......she was definitely happy.....but she missed me so much.
it was so wrong for her to be away for so long.
she's never been away from me before this.....and that was THREE MONTHS.
a kid that little should never be away from the person that actually raised them for that long of a stretch.
and we got LUCKY......most custody trials don't resolve for a year!
anyway......so our flight was due to leave at 7pm......then it got bumped back to 9:40
due to electrical storms over seattle.
so....okay...a couple more hours to wait.
oh well.
then it got bumped to 10:30
then to 11:22.
then they started doing the math....and saying that our flight might be completely cancelled because our pilot may have been in the air too long already to fly.
they said that if our flight wasn't off the ground by 12:17 that they were going to cancel it and we'd have to fly out in the morning.
we left the ground at 12:13.
3 more hours in the air.
then a 3 hour drive home
we got home around 6am.
the kids had slept on the flight.....and on the drive home......so they were ready to open presents friday morning at 8.
UGGGG.
anyway....then friday evening my guy and his little boy came.
and we hung out with my parents and the girls for the evening and it was fun,.
it's so comfortable together that way with my family.
i've never had that before.
i guess it's a good sign when the best times you have with the guy you like are in a family setting with the kids and stuff.
not that the times alone are bad mind you. *GRIN*
but it just feels....right.
anyway....so they spent the night......we had christmas today...and a birthday party for my guys little boy...my mom is good at throwing stuff together like that at the last minute.
so anyway...that's where i've been over the last couple of days..

oh....i forgot to say why i titled it what i did.
aria...the middle one....was curled up next to me after we finally took off in the air.
after 8 HOURS in the airport at the gate waiting.
she says "mom, this is the best day of my life"
and of course i got tears in my eyes......and said "mine too."
and she said, "i need all the hugs you can give me mom"
*grin* so we didn't let go the whole flight home.
clara was curled up beside me on the other side. and she was half in my lap the whole way too.

Anyways, I can really relate as, I had to run with my eight youngest in 1994/ August.. there were 7 girls and one boy, ages 20 months to 11 years, and the boy was 3 years...And I can remember that all that mattered to me was THEM: keeping them safe and just Keeping them.It reminds me of when Jesus said, "Pray that your flight not be in winter."You can write this one down in your book: "I did it in winter!" : ) ; ) -

Fallyn........oh, i know exactly what you mean......Any time my daughter comes back home after visiting her father and his new family and she hugs me like she never hugged me before and she sighs "It's so good to be home again, mom"...... i know i am doing just the rigth thing and everything is going to be allright.

Fallyn~ I feel for you little 4 yr old. when Dennis was that age is when his dad tried to \do that same thing....I got him for Christmas but when he had to go back his big blue eyes pleaded "Mommy Please!!! I want to stay with you!!! My Heart was breaking I told him I had to see the judge. He said tell the Judge I don"t want to go. oh Gosh hon my heart is breaking all over..he eventually got to come back not to long but for a little one that is so attached to mommy...It is a heart breaker!!!!! sorry i haven't been around much. i'm just not used to how much time they take up.......
there is just so much.
i don't even know where to start.
we're having a good time.
it's going to take some work to get them back to normal.....but.....it's worth it.
