I know that other people have already posted stuff like this and it's very natural that everyone has the same idea! It's almost the new year so you have to make resolutions right?? Oh I guess you don't have to.......lots of people don't......but I always like to do it. Even if I don't really follow them all the time. But this is the first time I've put them up somewhere public so maybe if I see them again I'll remember to do them?!

Some of these are serious and some of them are more superficial......but I will just write them all down anyways!

  • Lose 5 pounds.....it's not much, but my pants are tight and I don't want to get carried away!
  • Start doing my yoga class again! This is probably why I have gained weight......LOL My new job interferred w/my regular yoga schedule.....so I need to find some classes at night or on the weekends!
  • No more eating chocolate as a meal......
  • Learn more about certain subjects that I am fascinated with but never took the time to read about and study....
  • I will not keep my feelings locked in a vault so that no one knows if I'm upset.....I worry too much about rocking the boat w/people that I never tell them when they've made me sad or mad........then they'll never be able to change what they are doing.....and then everything falls to pieces! So no more vault.....
  • When someone makes me happy, I need to TELL them. Sometimes you think that everyone just knows what they mean to you, but they might not.....
  • Stand up for myself more! I won't let anyone walk all over me anymore just to be nice......it's ok to be a little bitchy sometimes if a person is taking advantage of your kindness....
  • Cook more.....I love cooking but I am so lazy sometimes we eat out alot......so I want to buy a recipe book and try a new dish from it at least once a week!
  • And last......maybe I should write more blogs?? I like doing it but never know what to say......but everyone else just writes whatever comes to mind and people read it! So I will try to do the same things.......

I hope that everyone else out there who makes resolutions will try and stick to them a little. Maybe! I think that everyone loses sight of the changes they want to make in their lives about one week into the new year......LOL But positive changes can happen at any time, even if it's not a resolution.......

I really liked your resolutions :-) I think I can adopt a few of them as my own too, because they apply to me as well! I know my mom was bugging you about why you hadn't been at the yoga studio lately, so I hope that's not why you want to go back. But I know you like doing it and I'm sure my mom will be more than willing to give you the class schedules and find one that works!

Just so you know....you make me happy. And since it was one of your resolutions to let people know when they do that, I wanted to let you know too. No one makes me as happy as you do :-) Love you....

nat - that's a GREAT list! it's just my opinion, but i think the ones that will help you the most in the next year are #4 - #7, but the one i like the most for myself is the last one. i hope you do start writing more, cause i know i like to read them.

Kyle, you make me happy too!! Happier than I knew anyone could make me :) I think we can work on lots of these together, but you don't need to lose five pounds or be more of a bitch.......LOL! And you have the blogging thing covered! But the other ones......we can work on those together :) Love you too......

traveler, I had to count them to see which ones you meant......LOL So number 4 was to learn more about what fascinates me......and 7 was to stand up for myself more. Yes, both are very important to me :) And I will try and write more stuff!

grace, thank you! Are you saying you will help me remember my promises? LOL Yes! I don't want to forget them......and now I can look at them whenever and remember what they say :)

  • GracefullyGrowing said on Dec 29, 2007....
Yep, that's what I meant.  I can point ya back here every so often, and ask you how you're doing on those things - without expecting a "real" answer, but just accomplishing nudging you to remember. =)

Very nice list. I think you can accomplish all of these goals, Miss Natty.

No more vault is probably the most important one. It's so easy to bottle things up for fear of upsetting others.

But as a person who rarely bottles things up, I find that my relationships with people are positive. If someone is doing something that makes you sad or angry, they need to know the effect they have on you.

It's okay to feel those things, even if they seem irrational to you. Communication is the most important aspect of any sort of relationship. Friendship or romance.

You are right. Any time is a good time to make positive changes in your life.

    Good luck.

  • nursecutie said on Dec 29, 2007....

grace, thank you! It's nice to have friends to remind us when we start to slip back into our old thinking patterns :)

Jack, you are soooo right. I know you are. And I have already learned this lesson, but I have to make sure I don't forget it too. It's simpler to keep quiet and hope everything passes......but sometimes it just does not work. Thank you for being such a great brother in law!! You make me happy too, just so you know! ;)

  • momsrock said on Dec 29, 2007....
Wow...that could be my list!! Except for the yoga class...I've never done it. :)
I am always afraid of rocking the boat too...and let people take advantage of me and never really want to sound like a bitch or risk hurting their feelings by saying something... but it usually ends up getting out of hand and being taken too far if you don't say anything. It's just hard...:)  It's a nice list all realistic and doable which makes it easier to follow through with!

  • destinydiva said on Dec 29, 2007....
that sounds like an acheivable list....  heres a little something to get you started..  :-)
I hope you start blogging more too, it would be nice to get to know you some more :-) good luck with them :-) xx

ps grace~  if I write a list will you be my checker upper too??  please :-) xx
  • nursecutie said on Dec 29, 2007....

momsrock, oh you should try yoga sometime! It's fun :) It helps you burn calories and it doesn't even feel like work! Plus it helps relax you too. But yes I never want to sound bitchy to anyone either. I like to be nice and keep the peace.......but sometimes you really just have to stand up! I hope we both can do it :)

destiny, thank you for the links! Oh I didn't know there was going to be a yoga convention! How exciting......I bet Kyle's mom knew this already though! I will have to go there. I promise I will blog more in the future and maybe even let people get to know me better? LOL I get nervous being too open......but that's the best way to let people into your life and your heart isn't it? Something else I should always remember.........

  • travelr712 said on Dec 29, 2007....
nat - i meant four through seven, include the other two in that. i guess it's because they were about growing as a person, and that's where i'm at right now, so they meant the most to me. personally, i've never made a meal of chocolate, so i couldn't relate to that one so much... :-)
  • gingersoul said on Dec 29, 2007....

Nat........ no more lists for me.....i made some in the past and i rarely achieved all the goals i jotted down....being the cicada i am.....:-)

But i do wish you good luck with your propositions....they seem pretty reasonable....i wish you to achieve specially the one about your confidence and self esteem and communication.....

But......are you sure chocolate is not a meal???

  • Mamie said on Dec 29, 2007....
ok, note to Grace, I am with Nat and Des on this one: can you be my checker upper too? Ok here goes and I may need someone to pull my hair if I become a slacker...I am leaving out the parts where I want my new foundation to be extraordinary, I will be healthy, etc. they are givens and will be supported by the following resolutions....

    1. I will start doing yoga and add it to my workouts...if CW can get a 5.5 on her a1c blood test, so can i!! I will walk, do ballet, pilates and now yoga! Yoga at least once per week...
    2. I will entertain more...I have a great home and great friends but I am too lazy to gather the two things together. How about once per quarter? My first idea is to have a "sweat pants" party with my girlfriends and watch movies and gab...sweats and slippers required.
    3. I will write real  letters because of how much I love to get them and how few people do that anymore. How about one for each month?
    4. I will cook more too (good luck to us, Nat). I have great cookbooks but I never cook anthing but the same old, same old. Once per week it is!
    5. I will make a list of 12 people who I have not seen in a long time but have been meaning to reach out to. I will find a fun, easy way to see them ...lets say once per month.
thanks for getting me started on the "real" list..I promise and declare: '08 is great and here we go!!

I'll tell you what - I'll put up posts periodically on my blog about all of us checking up on ourselves concerning the changes we wanted to make at the beginning of the year.  That way we'll be reminded.  How's that? =)

My New year i want to try to keep up here.. there are so many that I enjoy reading but if i dont see it ...it gets lost so I want to click on my buddies and see what is new on their pages and catch up on some old ones

Nat I hope You & Kyle have the best year ever!!!!

  • nursecutie said on Dec 29, 2007....

traveler, oh I misunderstood! Well I am glad you liked all of those resolutions :) Chocolate isn't a very nutritious meal, but it tastes really good!

ginger, LOL, I think sometimes chocolate should be a meal! Thank you for your support of my ideas. I hope I can do it too!

mamie, you will love the yoga! I am actually excited to get back to doing it again.....I need to make time instead of being lazy, especially since it's something I enjoy. We will have to put up our new recipes and tell everyone how the cooking is going! Good luck w/your goals too!

    grace, good idea!

waking, thank you! It's very hard for me to keep up here too. I try and sometimes I comment alot and other times I just read......and then sometimes I am just so far behind, I have to start over! LOL

  • polarheart said on Dec 29, 2007....
Nursie, I am not going to make any new years resolutions.  If I did there would be a pack load. . .right now I dont want to focus on all the bad things in my life that need changing and so I am doing a pretty good job at avoiding them! Great, huh?
  • nursecutie said on Dec 29, 2007....
polar, I understand that! LOL Denial was something I did very well before. Sometimes it's better not to list everything you need to change b/c it gets too scary to see it all! Eventually you'll pick things one at a time and everything will get better :)
  • polarheart said on Dec 29, 2007....
Thanks for the encouragement, Natalie, I hope I will be able to work things out ((hugs))

I like your resolutions list, too.  They sound like good realistic ones.  I will take your first one into account...lose 5 pounds.  (never mind that I have to rinse and repeat on that one myself..ha.)

I don't have a specific list, but right now I have several jumbled plans bouncing around in my head.

I need to make that list!

Oh, and I especially like the one about standing up for yourself.  That should be on the top of my list.

Best of luck to you and you know who in the coming year!  Yours promises to be a magical one!
  • Twylarants said on Dec 29, 2007....
Your list is a really good one Nat, I especially like the one about blogging.  I'm so in awe of the people here who can write whatever pops into their heads and make it sound fascinating.  But....no more chocolate meals?   The thought makes me want chocolate.
  • allswell said on Dec 29, 2007....
Sounds like you have a lot of good new years resolutions. I think that's a great idea to actually write them down...maybe i should do the same.  I hope you have a wonderfull new year!

    alls:)
  • rmuxagirl said on Dec 29, 2007....
I Really don't make resolutions or anything of the sort, but the next year I am going to strive harder to make my dreams come true and live my life the way I want to and not worry about what others will think of me.
  • nursecutie said on Dec 29, 2007....

clair, that was nice and very true :)

wombat, thank you! Best of luck to you too :) Standing up for ourselves is a very important goal. I hope we can do it!

twyla, LOL! Yes, I still want chocolate too......but I have a few more days until it's no longer considered a meal, so maybe I'll eat some? I am in awe of how everyone blogs the funniest things......or the most personal.....I don't have the guts to share all those things. But I want to try a little.....

allswell, thank you! I don't usually write them down either, so this is one way to keep myself motivated!

rumuxagirl, everything you said sounds like a really positive approach! It doesn't need to be an official resolution to count. :)

Nurse I know what you mean!! But hey you got it together!!
  • Aqua-Bristol said on Dec 30, 2007....
    All right, I'm game.

~Continue with my weekly yoga classes (I just started after Thanksgiving, and it has changed my quality of life.)

~Take better care of my health. I'm much more productive when I stick to my meds (not to mention that I feel better).

~Keep writing. I feel much more complete when I do so. Even if no one should ever see it. To write further confirms who I am.

~I vow to grow comfortable and accepting of myself, in all my quirkiness. I am who I am. I embrace that ideal to the fullest, come what may.

~Continue to prove myself to four of the best bosses in the world. The faith they have in me is touching, and they take good care of me.

~Study up on the Law of Attraction--and strive to maintain the best of its principles. Good karma, and the like. I believe what you put out there comes back tenfold.

  • hotaka said on Dec 30, 2007....

Those sound like good resolutions to make and not too difficult to keep. I don't make resolutions but I do make note of things I should try to accomplish in a year. This year I will have my hands full of diapers it seems but I will try to read all the new books I bought, be more conservative and wise with money, take care of my new family, and challenge myself to submit more photos and writing, oh, and climb a few more important mountains on my list.

Hope it all works out for you, Nat.

  • polarheart said on Dec 30, 2007....
(Hotaka, just wanted to say "hi" since you've been gone for the longest time - or is that my imagination?)

i hope you'll stick to your resolution! they are all doable!!! =)
  • skald said on Dec 30, 2007....
Some of your resolutions I like but don't keep your feelings locked up. It is very unhealthy. It does not mean that you should explode or something like that. Just show your feelings when it is necessary.

Well I don't think you have to slim but going to the gym and cutting on sweets is good.
    Good luck Natalie.
  • nursecutie said on Dec 30, 2007....

    waking, thanks!

aqua, I really liked your resolutions! Especially the last one......I believe that too!

hotaka, everything you said sounds like a very positive plan! Good luck to you w/becoming a daddy and a husband almost all at once! Thank you and I hope it all works out for you too :)

queenP, thanks, I hope I will stick to them too!

skald, awww, you're so kind! I am glad you don't think I need to slim, but I just want to make sure I can maintain this size w/out going overboard, since I love to eat! LOL I will not keep my feelings locked up anymore. I know that it was very bad for me to do that, so I am vowing to change! Thank you :)

  • silverwhisper said on Dec 30, 2007....
i think that the resolution about telling people what you feel (both not being a doormat as well as telling people you appreciate them) is both the most important as well as the most difficult. good list, nat. :>

Nat I'm going for 20lbs. Taking better care of myself. Trying to improve the life of my 9yrold who is batteling literacy problems and learning disabilities(I think he's dyslexic because at this age he is inverting d,b,q,and p.),and my aim is to get my house in order(physically, emotionally, spritually). And a hope for higher education. I'm keeping it simple this year. I hope you get to accomplish what it is you set out to do.

hi Natalie, last night I made an apple pie...never did that before and the day before that, I made blueberry muffins. I am subbing out some of the sugar with splenda to make it healthier and using a lot less butter...today I think I will make a sugar free, fat free chocolate pudding pie with a lower fat graham crust...hows that for a start? Not exaclty meals... but it is sure is fun! I am on top of the cooking goal. M
  • nursecutie said on Jan 08, 2008....
mamie, I made a pot roast using a recipe my mom gave me.....her pot roast is soooooo good. But my mom uses 'cooking intuition' instead of a real recipe......LOL! So her directions were, 'some of this.....and a lot of that......then a few sprinkles of this other stuff......' LOL! Mine wasn't as good. I think my cooking intuition needs work!

My mini update.......I didn't lose any weight, I still eat chocolate way too much, I haven't found any yoga classes that fit w/my schedule.......but I am standing up for myself more! And being more open about my feelings too. oh! And I've been cooking too! The results are mixed.......I'm still learning! LOL

Thanks for checking on me though!
