Dear fellow LDS,
My name is Nishan, i joined the church in the year 1995 when i was 21 years old. i was a buddhist then but i was attending few different church to find out about the teachings. i have been to Pentacostal, Goodsheperd and Roman cotholic churches but no satisfaction.
During this time, I had a tamil friend by the name Arun, we have been friends for number of years but never talk about the church. One day we both me with an accident and Arun got severly injured despites of me not a single damage.
Now that he is injured, i committed my self to take him to his office, run around his errands etc. one morning as usual I went to his house to take him to where ever he wants me to take him. we came to a colonial type of mansion house in Melbourne place, Colombo 04.
Beautiful house with lot of strange feeling, I couldn't imagine the feeling no sooner we went in, and there appeared two guys, one seemingly a white man and the other of course Chinese. they were called themselves elders, but young
guys, I wondered if they are brothers but explained to me the meaning of the title "elder" and ther were elder Kwan & Hymas.
Shook my hand, posted few questions, I was bit backward and thought where am I and who are these people? needles to say how friendly they are!!! I was asked to come and discussed about our interest and decided to open up a missionary discussion with fixed time to meet again. after six months of discussions, I decided to be baptised, but different missionaries taught me. they were elder Anderson and elder Javed.
I served a honorable mission in Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. returned home and got married to a returned missionary taught by me while I was serving in Colombo. she also went to serve a mission in Australia.
We married on the 6 April 2005 and sealed in the HK temple 08th April. Now have a cute baby son, and he is the very first covenant baby in Sri Lanka. church established more than 25 years ago, until our son no body born to the church, we are happy for the historical event. also we are very first return missionary couple to married in the temple.
We are expecting our second child in March 2008. we are a happy couple, just an ordinary couple, struggle to live the life. we earn just enough to manage. we have been active in the church always; and will be to the end.
