I think I've built up the meager credibility required to consider sharing this with you.

I'll start by asking what your favorite color is. Please be as specific as possible in regards to precise shade and any sheen/overlay, if present.

Colors are very important to me. I'm synesthetic (also spelled synaesthetic). I "see" colored letters, numbers, words, days of the week, months of the year, names, personalities, music, and emotions. I'm not crazy. Synesthesia is, literally, "joined senses."

Violin music evokes purple and copper (it's not as simple a response as that, but that'll work for now without boring anyone too much).

"M" is blue. "May" is green. Love is blue and gold, though a quite different blue than the blue for "M" and more...active. My choir director's voice was burgundy and silver.

I think if anyone saw inside my mind, it would resemble the work called "Without Borders" by Mari Giddings. That's the first art print I ever bought myself, and I could get lost in what it brings out of me for hours on end.

Maybe there are other syns on SoulCast. I'd love to talk to you!

i've never known anyone with that trait. my favorite colors are red, green, black, silver and gray. i have a profound dislike for blue but that's a reaction largely to the fact that it's everywhere. :> ed

er...sorry, missed the part about precision. me, i'm partially colorblind, so that's really about as precise as i can be, i'm afraid. ed

That's ok - thanks for answering! It's hard for me to imagine what that's like, just as I'm sure it might be difficult for others to understand how I perceive colors. Do you feel like you're missing out on anything, or does it not really affect your life? (Forgive me for being nosy; I'm insanely curious about people in general, and you're already an intriguing person to me.)

well, i've just remembered that when there's a sudden loud noise, i tend to perceive a flash of white in the vicinity of the sound. what it's like: imagine your monitor slowly darkening as you look at a picture. slowly, colors that you know should be distinct become harder to distinguish. you're a pretty nifty sort yourself. :> ed

Of course my favorite is Hunter Green....... I carpeted my house in it, all three floors. Then I used earth tones on the walls. Caramel, Chocolate, Yellow, Pearl, Blood Red, and one full wall murial of a punk band in my study. My home looks like a Mexican Restaurant. I Love It.

HBC: Sounds wonderfully rich and inviting! :) I can't wait for the day (well, I guess I can because I have to) when we own a house and can splash our personalities on the walls.

My favourite colour is the blue of the sky on a sunny day. I'm not synæsthesic though I do somethimes describe things in a way which could be suggestive of it. A while back I described something I'd tasted as yellowwhich my synæsthesic friend picked up on and sometimes particular pieces of music evoke colours in my mind. I know of another soulcaster who is synæsthesic, I'll see if I can't persuade him to stop by. The ||{1}|| is quite informative.

I am also syæsthetic. I see colours in my mind when I hear music. It's hard to describe, but an example I can give is that C sharp is a piercing bright blue. Consistantly. All notes have a specific coulour to me. As the scales in music change, the colours (and various shapes the colours form) also shift and change, sometimes blending together, sometimes overlapping or covering one another. If I stop to think about it, I guess I do associate colours (and the various shapes they take) to every sound I hear. I just tend to play it down or tune it out so it doesn't interfere with what I am trying to focus on.
