Whaaatt???
Seems like only yesterday (has it really been 7 years?) she was digging her heels in like an ornery mule, refusing to have a formal debut party for her 18th birthday. The reason: she absolutely didn't want to wear a long gown and get made up and go through all those silly formalities. The clincher: she yelled, "Mama, she's making me into a female!" when I persisted in making her try on a dress.
Anyway, my younger sister (let's call her Cassie) wanted an informal beach party instead, just have fun with her friends and family. But we outwitted her... I enlisted her best friends Jazz and Brad to come up with an impromptu program. It says volumes about how popular Cassie is with her friends that everybody agreed to conspire. So we went to the beach and everybody got into their beachwear, but nobody went into the water. When Cassie finally wondered about it, out came the roses and the candles, and on went the program. As a finale, they picked her up and dumped her into the water so she would be the first one in!
And now, she suddenly calls me up to say she's getting married! Yes, with all the works, formal church wedding, long gown, bridesmaids, and everything. All this from the girl who hated girly things?!? My, oh, my, she certainly grew up. And oh, yes, she's marrying her best friend Brad, who's older than me (I won't say how much older).
"Ate, you must come home, I'm not getting married without my maid of honor!"
*Sob* The world has certainly turned topsy turvy, if I'm going to be my younger sister's maid of honor instead of the other way around. (Although come to think of it, Cassie taught me to ride a bike (instead of the other way around)!) Waaaah. If superstitions came true, this means I'm never going to get married???
