So as expected, I got a cold.  Probably due to the guy at work who likes to cough on his hands then type on my keyboard.  He's not one for cleanliness or hygiene.  Its not horrible but I've been really stuffy and sneezy for about 4 days now.  I've been drinkin lots of water and taken some cold medicine but I'm still in a fog.

So anyone got any good cold remedies?  What do you usually do when you are sick?

i heard if you take vitamin C pills works i currently have a cold also and am babysitting 2 little boys in the morning and so far not getting better. But i am trying to take (what i heard was) 2000 mg of Vitamin C then every hour take another 1000 mg. (until you see it uh.. flushing out (poop) it will be yellowish) then you can stop. also zinc may help and airborne is used at the begging of symptoms. and nyquil is great at nights i recommend the off brand cherry kind it doesn't taste as horrible (but still bad) also dayquil helps in during the day but i recommend the pill form.

If you're stuffy I'd recommend that you find a decongestant and antihistamine so that you can clear up your breathing and keep it that way.  Nothing disturbs the healing effect of sleep and rest more than waking up because you cant breathe.

Ecinacea is also a homeopathic remedy for colds, though usually to prevent them.  I think it might speed healing.

Chicken soup is good for the soul, and it doesn't seem to hurt a cold either. :)

Thanks...I'll have to try the vitamin c.  I do have nyquil and I'm looking forward to taking it later...I love drowsy meds.

And about chicken soup....I do like soup but I can't find a store-bought brand that I like.  Everything is so salty and nothing like real fresh soup.

I sip orange juice and take nasal decongestant..but really you just gotta ride it out. Sorry you got sick! Rest up :)

I make a mean homemade chicken soup that will perk you right up! I'll make a fresh pot and bring it over! ;-)

But as for meds...I'm with the others on taking a decongestant and antihistamine, and get lots of rest...drink plenty of fluids and you should feel better in no time at all.

Of course there is always the TLC that you receive here at soulcast...a proven way to help make ANYONE feel better! :-)

I have been lucky for some reason in not getting sick with the flu or even a cold lately--(knock on wood)  but usually I take TheraFlu, drink orange juice, take tylenol--and sleep in mounds of blankets!   One day a customer coughed right in my face and I felt his breath go right up my nose!  I held my breath and ran to wash my hands with antibiotic lotion, but I felt like I was catching a Stephen King-type plague!  (It was a teenaged guy doing the rude coughing!)

No permanent cure for the cold has been discovered as yet. It is all mix and match.

If you let it be it will go after a week.

If you take medicines it will disappear after 7 days.

Either way it will last for a week.

I have gotten some of this new "Zicam" stuff..it is a soft lozenge that you let melt on your tounge..doesn't taste too bad...kinda chalky but it has worked so far to keep me from getting a cold...if I feel stuffy or itchy throat...I take that lozenge a couple times a day.  If you get a cough syurp make sure it is an "expecterant" otherwise it will all end up in your lungs for a long time.  anyhoo I also agree with scipio...you get a cold...you got one!  hope you feel better soon.

Fishermen's Friend cough drops really help.

I take oregano oil gel caps.  I also rub tea tree oil on my face.  The combination helps to break things up for me.

i've been sick for several days now lamp. my remedy of choice is usually tylanol sinus, theraflu apple cinnamon, and two good, stiff glasses of the cheapest whisky i can find. i do this because viruses usually can only live in a very small ph range, and the theraflu and tylanol sinus to treat my symptoms, and the cheap whisky is less refined, and thus has junk in it that the little bugs don't like. it seems to work, but that's just me.
