I have had something a little strange happen this week, at least it's strange from my personal experience.
This morning when I was getting washed I quickly became aware that my right hand thumb was hurting. A lot. A quick examination showed a cut of about 5mm which went right through the layers of skin and deeper on the side of the pad. There was no blood and I have no idea of how I came by it as it wasn't there when I went to bed.
This evening I was washing some dishes when, in addition to my thumb which is still very sore, I became aware that my index finger of my left hand was hurting. Again a quick inspection showed a 5mm split in the side of the pad with me having no idea as to how I came by it.
This leaves me wondering how these apparently spontaneous lesions are being caused and I'd like to know before I get another 'cos they hurt. A lot.
Anyone got any ideas?

Nope, nothing new detergent wise and everything is hypoallergenic & dermatologically tested.

alyss, you won't believe this-i was washing carpets on saturday. at some point i remember saying 'ouch'.a few minutes later i notice i am dripping blood on the tile floor around that rug-i look at the index finger of my left hand and there is a really big gouge taken out. it probably could have used a stitch or two. Yet i can't tell you how i got it. you'd think if you really hurt yourself, you'd recall, right?oh, and it's not the first time this has happened to me.i chalk it up to being way too busy and while i'm performing mundane tasks, my mind is off doing 10 other things. -

The tips of my fingers, especially my index fingers and thumbs, split and bleed in the winter from time to time, and it hurts like the very devil. I am very careful to keep my hands well-moisturized and I use only a particular brand of dish washing liquid that I think is milder. But it still happens, and damn, it really hurts! -

Tonight I have a circular cut on the palm of my hand and once again have no idea of how I came by it.
