The snow lasted three whole days like one of my singing mates said. It has all rained down and now the wind is howling. It is raining and things that are not well nailed down are blowing. This is Iceland for you.
I once read a letter that my grandmother wrote in the second world war. The weather had been crazy and some ships had sunk. Thanks goodness I don't think any will sink now. She told of other things too. But what really got on her nerves I think is that an American soldier not far from her had got a corrugated iron plate of a roof thrown by the wind at his neck and he lost his life. Tonight roofs or bits of them are blowing, people are warned not to be outside but I don't think and I hope that no one will loose his life.
I had to go out this evening but we were exercising for our Christmas concert. Really wanted to stay home as this weahter had began. The exercise was good though.
To morrow this tempest will be over I am sure.
