OK, while rolling through my conversations the past few days i've been finding increasingly more spammers: beryl001, ann002 (really the same, since they're pimping the same lame site), inshalaimports, and just a few minutes ago, rudindchosta.
and of course, they're sometimes falling on the old spammer trick of posting their nonsense anonymously. but beryl001/ann002 is proving to be rather persistent.
is anyone else finding more spammers these days on SC than usual?
i'm thinking that's (perversely) a good sign: that SC is now a popular enough site to warrant spammer attention.

what's interesting is that all of the spam I've seen so far is from amateurs. soulcast uses nofollow attributes on links so it's pointless for the spammer. the spam is usually done to improve the search rankings of the spammer, but the search engines ignore links with nofollow. I'm guessing these spammers aren't smart enough to realize that. -

hi there, I haven't really noticed, so maybe I am becoming a site snob? By the time I get done reading my people, I follow some conversations and then read my PM's, it is time to move on to some other area of my life...I wouldn't worry though because the spammers tend to give up and leave in no time flat. it's not just your thinking, and i hate it , i really hate it, what i hate the most is them adding tags to my existing tags, whether it be sex, or (what is that one about money that ends in the word scope?) I think it is not very nice. -

Yep.. Me noticing too. That must mean its bad cause you know how many things go over my head! hehe Hey sw, you know what? I deleted and blocked an anon. commenter and it didn't make it where I couldn't comment anon. I usually mess that up anyway and tried it but gosh I always end up saying hey its me...lol

WH: yep, you can't block anonymous commenters without giving up commenting anonymously. personally, i don't miss it.
dee: next to each tag on your blog entry, there's a little superscript x. click on it. it takes a few clicks to make a tag go away permanently, though.
