the DC comics series the watchmen by writer alan moore and artist dave gibbons was part, along with frank miller's brilliant the dark knight, of what established the graphic novel form as one capable of true artistry in the 80s.
almost as soon as the the series was completed there were immediately rumors of a film adaptation. as a series in 12 parts, i always pooh-poohed the idea of a decent adaptation being done.
yet, apparently after decades of fits and starts, there's finally going to be a film adaptation.
although i usually do try to pay attention to these things, news of this completely passed me by, so this is the first (i think) i'm hearing of this.
anyway, i felt morally obligated to share this. :D
