I'm not sure if this has ever been done before, but the thought came to my mind and I thought I would write it. I was thinking about things that well, really irritate me! And I've started putting together a list of these various things to share with you. Feel free to add to the list! :-)

So to enlighten those who are interested in hearing, keep on reading...(these are in no particular order, just writing them as I think of them)

- people chewing their gum, or food in general, with their mouthes wide open...or being extremely obnoxious while chewing. lol

- people reading over one's shoulder

- cracking body parts (knuckles, neck, back, etc)

- burping out loud, especially when one doesn't say 'excuse me'

- foul language every second word

- socks in bed (though I did break this one last night!)

- biting nails

- clicking pens, or chewing on them

- people who drive and either don't use their signals, or don't "go with the flow" of traffic

- clanging teeth against silverware

- people who read a story, and purposely skip pages so that it ends quicker (My mom was guilty of this one when I was little...maybe she didn't think I noticed when she was skipping parts of the story)

- people who don't look at you when they are talking, or you are talking to them

- toilet seat is to remain down! LOL...sorry guys!

- if you are able to drink everything but one little drop of milk or juice, whatever...DON'T put it back in the fridge! How hard can it be to drink that last little drop?

** I really hope this post doesn't make me seem like an arrogant person...I was just having some fun thinking. Please don't take offense to this post!**

Phew, I think we can still be friends.  The only one I violate is that I crack my joints.  I wish I didn't have to, but my joints are messed up so its not really my choice.

As for me, most of these are based on the people I work with:

People who quote movies just because they can.  If the quote is relevant or funny on its own, I don't mind it, but I know people who quote movies and the quotes either have nothing to do with what we are talking about or they just aren't funny.  Most people give strange looks if they don't recognize the quote.

I agree with the biting nails/pens thing too.  The guy I work with does this and its pretty annoying.

    - people who don't listen when you are talking to them.  How many times have you said a few sentences to someone only to have them suddenly say "what did you just say?  I wasn't paying attention."

    - people who can't stick to schedules.  When you say you'll be somewhere at 3, I expect you to be there at 3 (or earlier), not 3:15, not 3:30.  I know people who constantly can't get anywhere on time.

    - bad spelling/grammar.  It's worse when you don't care.  No one will ever take you seriously if you can't speak or write properly.

    thats all for now!

  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Dec 08, 2007....
lampshade - Ooooh, those are good ones. I can't say I've ever noticed the movie one; but the not listening one...that gets to me for sure. And the schedule and bad spelling, oh gosh that is irritating. I mean, sure it's excusable if you are speaking or writing a language that isn't your native tongue, but if you just do it because you are lazy...ARGH! lol. I best stop before I start a war or something. Hehehe. Once again, thank you for the reply! :-)

Wow, i thought i could get along with everyone but im guilty of LOTS of those.  I do look at people when i talk and i dont wear socks too bed but everything else i think i do, not all the time but enough so that im guilty of it.  lol.

I hate it when people say LIKE LIKE LIKE
I hate it when people interupt you when your talking or when they always direct the conversationg to themselves!
I hate it when people tickle me
I hate it when in bed people rub there nasty calloused feet with overgrown toe nails on me.  If your feet are pretty i dont mind.
Thats about it, i dont have many pet peeves.
  • evil_twin said on Dec 08, 2007....
I'm guilty of some of your pet peeves. I crack my knuckles, have been known to burp and find it funny (not in public though) and my language can be pretty bad. I have no idea why I always leave one sip of something in a can and stick it back in the fridge either. But I do it all the time! I think I need to re-evalute my habits now :-P I'm probably driving the world crazy!

My pet peeves are people who can't drive the speed limit, people who are always late for everything, gum poppers, and people who snort when they laugh. Oh, I also hate it when someone calls me up and has nothing at all to say. I'm sure there are more on my list, but that's all I can think of right now.

evil - Thanks for the reply! We don't hate you...I was just making fun with a post. I don't think you need to totally re-evaluate your habits...but I guess we should maybe wait and see if your better half (sorry, couldn't resist), responds to this. lol

    ~ dull pencils

~ things sticking out of drawers

~ people who make noise when they chew, or chew with their mouths open.  Basically, bad table manners in general just irk me.

~ adults cracking their chewing gum, but worse - blowing bubbles.  (Especially behind the counter at a place of business)

~ parents who don't control their children in public places

~ guys who ask your bra size within the first 10 minutes of conversation (This has happened to me quite a bit in online chat situations)

~ when one of my kids start poking me saying "Mom.  Mom. Mom.  Mom.  Mom. MOM.  MOM.  MOOOOOMMMMMM!!!!!"  and I'm on the phone or in a conversation with someone in person.

~ people having *obviously* PRIVATE conversations on their cell phone in public places.

She's already gotten on me about leaving the one sip in the fridge. She opened it up the other day and I had like 4 open soda cans with nothing but a drop in them. It is ridiculous, but I always think that it's a waste to dump it. Yet, I can't possibly drink another sip at the moment, so I just stick it in there.

I agree with you about the clicking pens and the drinks in the refrigerator! Yes I have asked Kyle why he does that and he has no good answer! LOL

My pet peeves that I can think of right now:

lateness, barking dogs when I am trying to sleep, cell phone drivers, people who call everyone sweetie or honey even if you don't know them. People who talk during movies or when I am trying to watch a TV show. That drives me crazy!!

I want to apologize on behalf of all men for those few who have been so immature as to ask your bra size upon just meeting you.  Some men need to learn to silently appreciate what is in front of them without feeling the need to put a label on it.
  • lampshade said on Dec 08, 2007....
Oh, and people who call me "bro" or even worse, when they pronounce it like "bra".  I want to smack them.
  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Dec 08, 2007....
grace - Of course not! Haha

nurse - Oh I was waiting to hear from you! :-) Thanks for the reply...I got a laugh when Kyle wrote about the drink thing and how he just can't finish that last drop, but he doesn't want to throw it out. Funny guy...

lamp - No need to apologize for them...you shouldn't take responsibility for their stupidity.

I am guilty of 5 of the 14 charges....take me away!

People that don't watch their kids

kids with baggy pants hangin below their ass

adults with baggy pants hangin below their ass!

cussing in public especially in front of senior citizens

  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Dec 08, 2007....
d6fer - Those are good ones! I don't agree with the baggy pants though for being just adults...I think it looks TERRIBLE if kids do it too! Gosh, it makes me want to just go up behind them and pull them up. lol
  • lampshade said on Dec 08, 2007....
The best part about people with baggy pants hangin real low is that you can make fun of them all you want.  What are they going to do, run after you?   You can't run with your pants around your knees.
  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Dec 08, 2007....
lampshade - LMAO...good point! Good point indeed. LOL...I can just see it now. They start running and then trip and fall on their faces because they had their pants hanging down around their ankles. Crazy people I tell ya! I feel like walking around and handing them all a belt too. Hehehe

Wow, i must unknowingly irritate many people...well now i know...I leave dishes in the sink, i dont pick up after myself until i know someone is gonna visit:P I crack my knuckles and bite my nails i make up words to songs and sing outloud the wrong lyrics, i text and talk on my cell phone while driving, i swear alot but only to my friends not in public or to the elderly, i forget about leftovers in the fridge until they tell me theyve gone terribly bad, im pretty good about driving the speed limit but am not a stranger to speeding, oh and its impossible for me to arrive anywhere early. I myself hate waiting on people so being early when they are going to be on time or late i cant bring myself to do it, so usually im barely on time or ten minutes late. Better them to wait for me than me to wait for them : ) Oh and this wasnt one that u mentioned but im sure i do this and it irritates many people SMOKING... yea, i smoke, in my home even and theres nothing u can say to make me stop! bwahahahabwahaha Love you all. Love me anyway?
  • lfbno7 said on Dec 09, 2007....
Let's see which of the above irritate me. Chewing food with your mouth open and making a loud sound out of it. That's a biggie. I can hardly stay in the same room as that. Out of the original post that's the only one that really drives me nuts. People always interrupting you and directing the conversation to themselves, that's a pet peeve, though not as bad as the first. People who can't drive the speed limit and clog up a lane, forcing everyone behind them to go around, that's another one, unless I see that they are 98 years old, and then I think "good for you, you have the guts to drive on the highway". Parents who don't control their kids in public places is another good one. Kids going MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM to get her attention, that irritates me regarding both the bratty kid and the parent who hasn't yet figured out how to make that stop happening by giving the kid your complete attention for a second and saying Be right with you sweetie, just a moment. That should fix it. People who talk during movies, and also people who knock into your chair from behind, during movies, usually little kids not being supervised enough. Cursing in public, especially in front of seniors, that's another irritating one, because it makes the environment seem less safe for them. Fake laughter, done habitually, is another annoying one for me. As for people who cheat and lie, that seems too serious to be just a pet peeve.
  • Sunshine_Mariah said on Dec 09, 2007....
star - We don't hate you. I was just merely creating a post that I figured lots of people would have something to comment about. It's surprising once you get reading to see how many people you can relate to yourself. I guess having pet peeves, and doing other peoples peeves is what makes us all unique! :-)

lfnbo7 - I'd say those are the most common amongst many of us here. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter! :-)

I said Grandma Loves you but you will never ever go into a store with me again if you ever do something like that again. She never did.
