i've noticed things about this place.
the people here.
the conversations.
the topics.
everything.
people's posts seem to feed off of each other........someone will post something
and that will spawn five other posts.
a news story will pop up......or ten of them.
there's poetry,
and erotica.
and every day life.
a lot of every day life.

i might be wrong.....but soulcast as a whole seems to have moods.
maybe it's just me and my perceptions.
but sometimes everyone on soulcast seems elated, at the same time
or down, or sad, or melancholy, happy, bubbly,
quiet, talkative......etc.
it's interesting.

maybe it's the soundtrack playing in the background that only i can hear,
maybe my perceptions are screwing with me.
maybe i'm just not paying attention like i used to.
i don't know.

that's all for now.

oh, I think there is definitely something to what you are saying.

And about the blog themes.  Once in awhile I can see it being coincidence, and I will post something, and then you know how here at SC, they put related articles under where you post comments, in a few hours, some will start popping up that are close to my theme, and I'm thinking, hmmmm.......I didn't see that post before I posted mine up, if I had've, I wouldn't have posted mine.

It is also true about the sad posts.  I think it tripped both you and I a couple of weeks ago.  Remember?  We were both kinda up, and then all of the sudden, there was a flood of sad posts, and you and I on the very same day, began feeling a little slump, then I remembered that both of us had been posting on some of the same sad ones.   I think I need to be careful....if I am not feeling at my best, to steer away from some of those, until I get my own spirits up.  What do you think?

  • crybabylu said on Dec 07, 2007....
I have actually deleted some of my posts when I see similar ones are posted, even when I look and see that mine had an earlier post date on it.  Because, I like getting comments, and if several are posting on the same thing, then I don't think one is apt to get many comments, if they have 2 or 3 other ones they have already posted to.

I agree with you, this place definitly has moodswings!! :-)
my guess is that we really do open our souls up when we are here?

babylu~sometimes when  I am really down, I find that reading the sad posts, and giving others advice and hope..seems to pick me up a little.

    :-) xx
  • crybabylu said on Dec 07, 2007....
des- sometimes that is true, but there are other times, I know my mood drops a couple of levels.
  • Fallyn said on Dec 07, 2007....
i think for me.....my mood determines which posts i read.

if i'm in a sad mood.....i tend to read the more trivial ones.
if i'm happy i read about peoples happy times and their lives...and joke around and stuff.
i go through so many moods......i guess that's why i jump around to all kinds of posts.
i've just noticed that so often there is a slew of sad ones.....or a slew of happy ones, or a slew of just silly ones....or a slew of serious ones. *shrug*

i do think soulcast as a whole has moodswings.
i wonder if it has pms too? *grin*

lol! yeah I'd say it does!!  and you know what else? you know they say that if females share a house...  there menstrual cycles end up in sync with each other? wonder if that happens at soulcast! lol  imagine all the women here being hormonal all at once!!  :-) xx

(laughing out loud now)  Well, it definitely was true for me and my sisters growing up.  There were five girls, all one year apart in age!

HEY!!!! i AM THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED MOOD SWINGS HERE!!    Find some other excuse for your weirdness....orright??
  • silverwhisper said on Dec 07, 2007....
sure, we all feed off of one another--i've lost count of the blog entries i've seen posted that were responses to someone else. heaven knows i've inspired a few and in turn have been inspired by a bunch myself.

we're a community and that's what communities do: we're influenced by one another. not just ideas, but sure, moods too.

fallyn- Interesting post. I agree with what you and the others said, but my mood and feelings play in a lot. Many times I feel like the sad sack of soulcast.

There is something to this. It rings a bell. Think you might be right.

I'm only about a week into the SoulCast experience and I can already whole heartedly agree.   Not only is it the community, but the "power of the pen" (or keyboard, as this case may be) is mighty!!  It's at least as powerful as music, and in some cases moreso, IMO.

I don't think it's necessarily anything profound (or copy-cat-ish or whatever else), but people definitely ping off of one another, here and IRL. I've noticed that the SCers I know best, and some of the ones who are the most inside my head, if you know what I mean, tend to post things that get me thinking beyond what I feel fits into a simple comment.

Also, it may be that people whose thoughts tend to wander down similar paths anyway are more likely to share a certain mood (especially in light of a particular event or situation that is brought to their individual attentions separately), and to blog about said mood (or the event that triggered it) at nearly the same time.

Another thought re: mood - I think perhaps if you happen to view several spokes of the same wheel of an inner SC community, it's easier to feel like SC is sharing a mood overall. If I know one of my friends here is having a horrible day or struggling with something major, my "SC mood" will probably reflect that, with tones of concern or sadness or just plain meh entries. The flip side is that if something awesome happens to a friend, my day is likely to look up sharply, and my posts will reflect that. After all, we share the sorrows and the joys of our friends' lives.

There's also the coincidence factor - at times, things are just similar by chance (or just by nature of the timeframe, like with Christmas posts this month). I don't know that anything more can really be drawn from it than that, at least on occasion.

i've noticed in the months i've been here that everyone in this community has a sort of similarity to each other. it's nothing that i can label here, but everyone knows when someone just doesn't 'fit' if you will, someone is of a different perspective than the majority of regulars. like, people who come to harass and flame others don't last very long. they get sorta ignored and shut down quickly by alot of other members. people who just want to debate for the sake of debate don't stay around long either. the people that stay in this community seem to be the ones who want to bring out their real life issues and problems, put them on display in front of 200 people who they never met but know intimately, and have those people give their perspectives. i know myself, i often look at how many people lean a particular way on a subject, and use that to help me make some decisions in my life. and in that environment, with everyone sort of 'open to the public', it's no wonder that as an agrigate, the community goes through mood swings. it's like any mega-organism. what affects one part, affects the entire organism.

so thank you, everyone who is a member of this community which has become so important to me, just for being there.
  • crybabylu said on Dec 07, 2007....

travelr712--Oh, we have debates,,,you just haven't found the right blogs for that.In fact,  I love to debate.  Here are the debators that I know; Cussane, SeanRenald, bloc, lfbno7, Silverwhisper, Alienated, StupidGenius, TinSoldier,Sheltercrow, Stobmediabias, Cussane, SeanRenald,

There are probably more, but I can't think of anymore right now.  Okay, now when you go to a blog, click on different names that post there. Also, look at who is reading that blogger, and who that blogger reads.  You would be surprised all of the different blogs you will find in the SoulCast family.  There is really a wide range of subjects, and then there are the things we debate about, such as.

My favorite, is politics, but we have those who are evolutionists, creationalists, all kinds of things such as; science articles, etc.

If you are not interested in debating,  We have poets, we have stories of romance., human interest stories, and jokes, etc. etc. etc........ Have fun hunting!

Im going to disagree bc everyone agreed.  It may seem we all have moods but really it the moon fucking with all of us.  Kinda like how women who spend time together get on the same menstrual cycle.  hehehe

cry - i agree that there are debates on this site. i participate in some of them and enjoy them thoroughly. but those debates have a defined issue and a purpose. what i was talking about was certain members in the past who would pick one word or sentence from any blog at random and disagree with it, whether they believed in their point or not, just to create controversy. they would do it to inflame other members and draw attention to themselves. and i would go to their blogs and find posts by them that supported the position they were now seemingly against. those types of people don't seem to last long here. the type that say 'it's black' just because someone else says it's white.
