I'll bet there is something that you and/or your family do that makes you unique.

What is it?

Sorry, nothing but boring Christmas eve present openers here.  Unless you count the tradition of forgetting batteries of everything.
  • silverwhisper said on Dec 05, 2007....
um...well, my FIL is one of two ministers at my church, and my wife's birthday is 12/25, so on christmas eve, we go to christmas eve service at church. we go on to one of our parents' houses for the night, spend the morning w/ her family, spend lunch and the afternoon w/ my family, then go back to her family to celebrate her birthday in the evening.

it's a very logistically-demanding way to be unique, unfortunately. :>

    UI,
That could be a tradition.  :-)  I've been guilty of that before too.

    Ed,
It sounds like a very busy but happy time for you.  :-)

    MMI,
That sounds like a wonderful tradition.  I am sure you make everyone feel special with all those handmade things.

I don't have one as of yet, but am trying to talk the GF in to starting one?  making love in front of the fireplace under the stockings and hoping Santa catches us!
  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 05, 2007....
    Racerboy,
You are very romantic.  Be careful.  You might spoil the GF!  Do you think Santa would consider that naughty or nice?

    CW
  • Racerboy said on Dec 05, 2007....
It might be naughty, but it would be VERY nice!  If Santa is embarrassed it is because Mrs Clause isn't as sexy!
  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 05, 2007....
    Racerboy,
Santa might get jealous of you. :-D  How's that going to affect what you get in your stocking?

CW all is done in tradition by us. I wrote some posts about it . It is too much really to tell in a comment. Just wanted to say I was here and I am looking forward to Christmas. Should write Chirstmas cards but am reading blogs.

    skald,
I will have to check out your posts.  I need to get into the Christmas spirit.

I'm with you, CW, on this last comment to skald.  I have very little Christmas spirit this year.  I mean as far as shopping and decorating.  And we don't have any "traditions" here.  I feel kind of sad about that.
  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 05, 2007....
    wombat,
I don't do anything special either.  I just attend the usual family dinners which I find very stressful.  There are no special traditions in my home.

CreatoveWoman:   I have a "family" dinner coming up soon--of course it is "his family" and not mine, but I know what you mean about the stressful part.  So many expectations--and then it ends up being everybody trying to do and say the right thing as if it were some world important gathering--then everybody can't wait to be first to leave and go home.  But at least, we can say, "We did it."

Where did the real feeling go, I wonder sometimes......

We used to roast barbecues and hotdogs by the fire.. But things change when we get older. I don't think we still follow certain traditions.
  • lfbno7 said on Dec 06, 2007....
On Christmas day we generally go eat at an Asian restaurant, usually Chinese, because that's all that is open.
  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 06, 2007....
    wombat,
I understand what you say.  I hate that strained feeling though.

    waking,
That's perfectly fine.  We'll love to hear about them.  :-)

    wombat,
Glad you feel welcome here! :-)

    Lioness,
That sounds like fun.  I love the 4th of July because that is what we do.  ;-)

    lfb,
    That sounds good though.

like most filipinos we have noche buena... we have a feast that starts at midnight on christmas eve.. =)
  • crybabylu said on Dec 08, 2007....

It always starts for me when we have our Christmas get-togethers.   It always changes every year because our daughters have inlaws meals to attend also.  this year our get together is going to be on 19th.   We also have one with my husband's family up in Kansas City.  That one will be on the 23rd.  But, I rather like the one we have here in our home with JR, myself, and Bobby (jackie's brother who lives with us).  We light the fireplace, and turn on Christmas songs, and either drink egg nog or hot chocolate..

    P.S.  I finally remembered a Christmastime, a tradition.

  • CreativeWoman said on Dec 09, 2007....
Thank you, skald.  That's very sweet.

    queen,
    That sounds like fun.

    cry,
It sounds like you have lots of fun to look forward to over the holidays.
