I'm not even sure this is blog worthy, but here it goes.

Last night as I was driving to the grocery store to pick up dinner my car clutch started squeeking.  I know, not a 10 on a 1 to 10 scale of things that should grate on a person's nerves, but still.  Every time I changed gears the stupid thing squeeked.  I experimented to see if it was only a slow motion thing or if it would squeek no matter how fast or slow I pushed in the clutch.  I wondered where you should put the oil on it to make it stop squeeking or if maybe that was a bad idea.  Can you believe so much thought is involved in such a small and irritating thing?!  Me either.  But try as I might I could not let go of that irritated feeling.

All of this reminded me of other things that squeek and also irritate and/or annoy me.  I also thought I'd see what squeeky things irritate you all.  I'll start the list

Shoes - I hate it when shoes squeek.  People can hear you coming.
Chairs - Right now my work chair squeeks everytime I shift my weight.
Doors - As a former locksmith, a squeeking door drives me nuts.  Fortunately only one of my car doors is in need of some oil at the moment.

How about you?

Squeaky beds. That really does have to be the worst one. And not just for the obvious reasons either. But if you're trying to sleep and the other person rolls over, it makes too much noise! I also hate the sound of chalk squeaking on a blackboard. Ugh.

ET - the proverbial chalk on the chalkboard is excruciating to me.  I have "dog ears" so I am extremely sensitive to sounds, and that one's a real bitch to live with.

unique- Squeaky voices. Like the girl at the counter that in a high pitched squeak says 'kay for ok. Could these people ever sound serious?

I have never liked, it goes though me since I remember and I don't know why a broom sweeping floor. Or a mat drawn over the floor. Or someone stroking cloth material . Those are all the same sounds. I remember it so far back as to my 5 year old age.

BTV - I call those kind of girls "bubble heads".  Of course, being in California, land of the sillicone, peroxide and single digit IQs I suffer those frequently.

SW - I know!  Which of course reminded me of gates that squeek, hanging signs that squeek and floors that squeek.  Not all of them are BIG annoyances, but they do cause minor displeasure.

    The refrigerator door...

As far as "other" annoying sounds---hubby has a horrible habit that drives me absolutely nuts!   When he eats chips out of a bag--well, when he is finished for awhile---he folds the top of the bag down---little by little, making a tight little fold all the way to where the rest of the chips are.  All the while, the bag is making that classic potato chip bag wrinkling sound.....

You would have to be there to fully appreciate this.  I have been known to scream at him to stop before I have a nervous breakdown.

wombat - a wrinkling chip sack drives you nuts?  Hmmm.  I've never given in much thought other than if it's interferring with my watching TV.

Yes, his wrinkling that bag sends me over the edge.  I think mostly because he knows it bothers me, so he does it slowly--hoping it will be quieter....it just makes it 10 times worse!  Just close the dang bag and drop it, for crying out loud!  (But he does love those tight little folds for some reason--everything has to be closed, folded, Reynold's wrapped, Tupperware'd----all just right.... or tomorrow will be the Apocolypse...ha...)

I have been with my spouse for under 2 years now, but I have known him for around 8 years and dated off and on...
Its early, or late?...
