I watch a lot of spooky t.v. shows. Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, Ghost Town, and Is it Real? are a few of my standards. I think the spooks in my house are responding to these programs.
Let me explain.
Throughout the course of these programs, the investigators will call out something like "If there are any spirit persons who wish to make themselves known, please bang on something two times." It is usually at this point that I hear strange sounds in my kitchen or out on my back porch. Noises that I don't usually hear. It's the oddest thing.
It can be a little unnerving. Not so much though that I alter my t.v. viewing habits. I talk to the noises and tell whoever is doing it to knock it off. It's just a t.v. show. Nobody is really calling them out. They can leave me alone.
Sometimes I go so far as to talk to my brother and my niece. They were both practical jokers in this life. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if they've carried that trait across to the other side.
Once the programs in question are over, the noises die down along with the prickly hairs on the back of my neck. I don't know why I watch this paranormal stuff alone. I can't help myself though. I find it fascinating.
It would be preferable if the house wasn't quite so chatty while I'm trying to watch them. :-)

i have watched some of those shows and they ended up giving me nightmares. i'm SOOO tired of being scared of stuff like that.

I do worry about that neighbor sometimes still. They've been working on the road and he couldn't drive by. Now it's open again. I'll see if he starts his circling again. I honestly find him more scary than those programs.

Sometimes they do creep me out. I can watch a program like that, but I go nowhere near most horror movies...at least not the gory ones.

Oh, CW, my house is like that too! We hear all sorts of strange things and I have no idea what they are. I've never noticed them happening while I'm watching Ghosthunters though. That's actually kinda cool! I love that show, by the way. It's one of my favorites.

I love Ghost Hunters too. Did you watch it live on Halloween? It was great!
I will especially hear banging on my porch and the sound of the door opening and closing while I'm watching those shows. No one is there. I've looked. Dishes will make noises in the kitchen like someone is puttering around.

CW, yes I watched most of the live special before I fell asleep. I never really considered that when they call out spirits on TV, it could have an effect on someone's house. But it makes sense. Because if you did have ghosts, they hear the voices and don't realize where they're coming from. It's pretty interesting! Maybe you should try and call them out yourself and see if you get a response?

Seriously, I would rather let the spirts stay peaceful. Leave well enough alone in my own home. I can tolerate a few bumps in the night.
I would love to tag along on a paranormal investigation sometime. I think that would be awesome to experience.

It sounds like your house is conspiring to make the tv shows more interesting. You seem to have a practical joker of a spirit screwing around with you. Ghosts are real. If they were visible they wouldn't be scary. They are just people like you and me. -

I think we are visible to them but they are not visible to us. i think they are very close but just not in a dimension that we can detect with our five senses. i think our five senses are a large part of the illusion we experience on earth. -

i usually just tell them to go away and quit bothering me too. the way i think about it is this. they're not quite 'in phase' with this 'reality', but they take up space in it. and since they're not quite in phase, they can't really do anything to me that i don't let them, and the only true power they have over me is my fear of them, if i had any. so when i show them i'm not afraid, just bored with them, they get tired of me and just go away. -

I think that we are in their field of vision, their sense of sight can detect us while ours can't detect them. I also think they are telepathic, meaning they can detect our thoughts. and communicate via thought rather than language. -

i believe you're right about that lfb, from my experience. it's kinda like, you can see them out of your peripheral vision until you start to focus on them, and then they zip into a wall or something. some can be kinda interesting to talk to sometimes, but i take what they say with a grain of salt. -

I call out to my brother and niece quite often. When I'm watching those programs my computer will go offline and come back on all by itself. I can hear it in the other room because it's dial up. I feel that is my niece because she liked my laptop. I also tell her I know she's here. The banging I blame on my brother. If he could get a good scare out of me, he would. I can also smell my brother's cigarette smoke sometimes. It's like he is standing over my shoulder while I'm blogging.
Maybe I am crazy. :-)

I'm not usually afraid. Unnerved a little, maybe. I just ask them to let me enjoy my programs and please don't mess with me.
