Do you ever make up your mind to do something that's slightly outside your comfort zone, then keep finding ways to put it off until it's got a fear factor disproportionate to the thing itself?

I irritate myself when I do that. Not enough to stop doing it, apparently.

There's this thing I've been wanting to do. It's minor in the grand scheme of things, and I won't foist it off on the other party. But now I'm apprehensive again.

I used to do that a lot, with almost everything different/new. Now I usually bluff my way through whatever it is with confidence I don't always actually feel. It works, and most of the time doing the thing anyway gives me the real confidence to make it a non-issue from there on out. I'm not a pansy - not these days, anyway! :-p

So yeah. I get two more weeks to contemplate my own stupidity on little things. Go me! :-D

i'll confess, i'm awfully curious re: the what here, infernal. ?

me, my comfort zone is pretty broad, so what you describe doesn't happen for me often. when it does however, i usually try to keep in mind how it's similar to things that are within my comfort zone.

I'm afraid the good lord didn't give me the good sense to fear new and untried things.  I'll trade some of that for your over developed sense of anticipation!

ed: It's a stupidly small thing. It really is - sparked (to mind, not originated) by comments on another post of mine just now.

That's a good way to approach it. Thanks - I might put that to good use!

u-i: Sounds like a good deal to me! :)

Hey, MM&I! :) Pay no attention to the redhead behind the strange posts. It's just me being typically weird.

beryl, please stop spamming. all you're doing is convincing readers never to click on that link.

copying & pasting someone else's comment is also pretty rude. but not as rude as being a spammer.

Well, SC - I am teetering on the brink. It seems like I should be a lot more upset than I actually am, but I am taking consolation in the knowledge that I have done the absolute best that I could. Also, there's still a chance I can achieve the grades...
